Kanelonia

  • 1/4 lb. Butter
  • 11/2lbs. ground round beef
  • 1 c. hot water
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 c. parmesan cheese ( freshly grated )
  • 1 egg
  • 2 c. bechamel sauce
  • 1 small finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 c. dry white wine
  • 4 T. tomato sauce
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 lb. wide macaroni
  • 1/2 c. fine bread crumbs
  • (Bechamel Sauce Ingredients)
  • 1/3 c. butter
  • 3 c. hot milk
  • dash of nutmeg
  • 5 T. flower
  • salt and pepper
     
 
Heat 1/8 # butter & saut'e the onions until golden brown. Add meat and brown. Add wine, water, tomato sauce, cinnamon, and salt and pepper. Simmer well covered until all liquid has absorbed. Add 1/2 of the cheese, bread crumbs, and egg & mix well. Meanwhile cook the noodles for 10 minutes, then drain. Layer meat mixture between the lasagna noodles in baking dish. Cover with sauce and sprinkle top with cheese. To make the sauce: melt the butter in smal sauce pan adding the flower until smooth. Gradually add the hot milk and season with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Simmer until thickens. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes
