Mix hot water, yeast and sugar in a large bowl. Let stand approximately 10 minutes to activate yeast. Using an electric mixer, slowly add 2 cups of flour to the yeast. Add egg, oil and salt. Beat until smooth textured. Add remaining 2 cups of flour and let rise until dough doubles in size. Knead. Roll out dough and cut into rolls; let rise. Bake at 400° for 12 to 20 minutes or until browned.
