Deep Dish Peach Pie

  • 3/4 stick margarine
  • 3/4 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 2 c. fresh peaches, mixed with 3/4 c. sugar
  • or 1 large can peach slices, reserving the liquid
     
 
Pre-heat oven to 350°. In a 2-quart baking dish, melt the margarine. Sift together flour, baking powder and sugar. Stir milk into the flour mixture; mix well by hand. Pour the batter over the melted butter in the baking dish. Then place the peaches on top of the batter. (If using canned peaches, add about 1/3 of the liquid with them.) Bake in a 350° oven for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
