Red Velvet Cake
By: Master Chef Elliott Farmer - 1 1/2 c sugar
- 2 1/2 c all-purpose flour
- 2 t cocoa
- 1 t baking soda
- 1 t salt
- 2 eggs
- 2 c vegetable oil
- 1 c buttermilk
- 1 t vanilla extract
- 1 t vinegar
- 1 oz red food coloring
Place dry ingredients in mixing bowl. Blend eggs with fork. Add oil and blend. Add to dry ingredients and mix until smooth. Add buttermilk, vinegar, vanilla, and food coloring. Mix after each addition. Pour batter into 3 prepared layered cake pans. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. Cool slightly then remove from pans and completely cool. Frost with cream cheese pecan frosting. |
